I have a true story to tell you. It is about a woman named Lois and her husband Kenny. Lois only went to 8th grade in school, so never had the chance to take any kind of driving lessons during school. In her day, the only way you got driving lessons was to pay for them yourself. Lois had no idea how to go about finding out about them, so she called the school. Now keep in mind, these two have been married for almost 10 years, and back in those years, there was no reason for a woman to learn how to drive.

She had called the school and was asking about lessons to drive a car. What she wanted was some very cheap driving lessons. When she said cheap driving lessons, she could hear silence on the phone. Then the lady had asked her to come in and fill out some forums for those cheap driving lessons, and she said right now if possible. Her only way of travel was by walking, but she only lived about 5 blocks from the school.

Our phone rang and I went to answer it. It was Lois and she wanted to talk to my mom. I stood on the stairs and was ease dropping on mom talking to Lois. All I could hear mom talking about with Lois that she was going to start learning how to drive next week. She had to get her permit, borrow a car, and see about insurance on the car. Lois told my mom that Mr. Olson was going to give her cheap driving lessons, but had to get these things done first.

Well my mom had help Lois get everything done, and within the next 2 weeks she could start classes with Mr. Olson. Well the day finally arrived and she walked up to the school and Mr. Olson was in the car waiting for her. Being she was older and already knew how to drive, she didn’t need to read the book, but told her to take the tests that are at the end of each chapter.

Well after she got done with the course, she took her driving test and passed it. Lois said her cheap driving lessons paid off well. Kenny is going to buy me a car this weekend, so I will have my own car. I am so happy for Lois, and she did this in about an 8 week course. She missed most of her summer with her husband going camping and fishing, but she said it was worth all the headaches.
