I am very excited at the moment as I have just started taking driving lessons again after a two year gap. Being 27 I had decided enough was enough.I first started to learn when I was 19, but I only took a few lessons andunfortunately found other things as more of a priority financially way before I was ready for my practical test. This was a great disappointment of mine as from being very young I had wanted to apply for the ambulance force. Not being able to drive stood in my way. But, it just hadn't seemed possible to be able to carry on.
I then startedlessons again at about 21, but never really took proper lessons this time round, again due to finances, instead I insured myself on my partners car, bought some 'L' plates and away I went! I enjoyed myself a lot during this time and despite almost having one crash which wasn't my fault I was raring to go every time.Eventually I realised I needed some professional lessons though andunfortunately once again Ihad other financial prioritiesand never quite got round to taking either the theory or practical test.
Then when I was about 23 I had a few weeks of lessons, which did seem to be going quite well. A few weeks into the lessons my instructor had to buy a new car as the one I had started learning in was involved in a crash with another learner and sadly written off. This seemed to ruin my driving experience as I had gotten so used to the car that having to go to a new car felt like I was starting all over again. This dampened my excitement and confidence, and I soon stopped the lessons again. Concentrating my finances elsewhere once again.
Then at 25 I found myself expecting a baby, so once again had another reason to learn to drive. Not that the ambulance force didn't feel like a big enough reason to me, but I always seemed to hit an obstacle each time I tried to achieve the driving. So once again, for the ambulance force idea and now because I had a baby on the way I started to learn again. Sadly this time it was the morning sickness that had gotten in the way! I thought I better stop before my sickness caused a crash.
Now, at 27 I am back learning. This time when looking for an instructor I made sure they didn't have a brand new car as I had always enjoyed driving older ones much more. I also put some money aside, starting revising my theory test and hazard perception, and booked a block so I knew I would keep going! Lets hope this time I make it to the practical test!
